Act vs sat?

I've taken both tests, and I'm still confused on what the difference is in terms of actually applying to schools. I've heard schools take your best score, but it seems like most students focus a lot more on the SAT. So, do colleges ever favor one over the other for admissions or financial aid? Since I did a lot better on the ACT, would you recommend I focus on bringing up my SAT to the same level, or on making my ACT even higher?

Most schools will superscore your SAT / ACT scores. If your ACT is better than SAT, they will use ACT.

You should focus on ACT.
