ACT vs SAT?

Well I'm not too sure what I should take. I'm positive that I'll do better on the ACT than the SAT. I like the ACT better as science is much easier than vocab. THe math section is fairly easy, my weakest point on the practice test was the english section. I ordered two ACT prep books: ACT For Dummies & The Real ACT Guide. I want to go to a UC college (Berkeley, LA) or Stanford. I understand that these schools except the ACT +Writing or the SAT. Do they prefer one over the other? What score should I shoot for on the ACT? All help is appreciated.

Thanks,

UCs take either and there is no expressed preference. For UC Berkeley or Stanford, you should be shooting to be in the 30s. Note you assume you will do better on ACT than SAT. Such assumptions often turn out to be incorrect.

Maybe try both if you are really serious about getting a good score. I took the SAT twice and barely improved my score, then I randomly signed up for the ACT, took it, and got a score that I was more than pleased with.
Advice: Try taking practice tests for both and see what you like better. Universities really don't have a preference. If they did, we would definitely know about it by now.

For Stanford I would aim for 32-34.
