ACT w/ writing in lieu of SAT subject tests at Ivies, SWAP, MIT & Stanford

Thanks Alumother -- Even though my kid is not competitive for HYPS the Princeton ACT policy always rankled me. Just the remnants of growing up an "ACT kid" in Oklahoma and Louisiana, I guess. Glad to see they've changed.

Alu, you said Princeton said that you "can" submit ACT, but were they adamant that they really have no preference for the SAT over the ACT?

Signed,

Still Suspicious.

P.S. Thanks for calling

I didn't probe. She said ACT was fine as long as the 3 SAT IIs were submitted.

Curmudgeon,

If you daughter is considering Princeton also be aware that the 3 SAT Subject Tests need to be in different sugjects, Math Level 1 and Math Level 2 count as one subject. This is one of the questions that was asked at the info session we went to at the end of September. Regardless, good luck.

I have talked with several admissions counselors who have stated that a student would be foolish to take a subject test in a class they have yet to master, and since there are so many applicants to the ivies with perfect scores, another 800 on a literature sat II when they have received A’s in English honors and ap courses throughout high school. It is a waste.

JumpHigh, you get the “Lazarus Bump of The Day” award. 59 months, 9 days, 21 hours, 36 minutes. WooHooo! Go, you!

Whew, Impressive math there. I am lucky to count to ten without mistakes these days.

i googled and found this thread. this indeed must be some kind of record, jumphigh.

Has Princeton changed its tune since 2005?

from the Princeton website
