I’ve taken the ACT w/ writing twice so far, but I’m not sure whether I should take it again.

First try - 6/2008:
Composite: 30
(30 writing, 29 math, 32 reading, 28 science)
Essay: 8

Second try - 9/2008*:
Composite: 26
(28 writing, 26 math, 28 reading, 23 science)
Essay: not graded yet

*The second time I took the test, was under some unfortunate circumstances that probably affected my score heavily…

I haven’t done any prep, but the other day I bought one of those review books. I was hoping for at least a 31 because the median score was exactly 30 (and my grades are pretty average: ~3.75 uw academic gpa). I know that Barnard doesn’t look solely at numbers which is great, but it still might be cutting it close in a pool of all-around strong applicants. I have quite a few ec’s that I’m really involved (click http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/barnard-college/557603-barnard-ed-chances.html for full stats) but…

Should I take the ACT w/ writing again OR is a 30 comp/8 essay competitive enough for Barnard ED?

Thanks, everyone!
