ACT Without Writing

I'm going to be taking the ACT for the first time in April and I've been studying really hard lately. However, my school will be paying for the test but it won't include the writng sction. At first, I wasn't worried but then I realized that my reach schools won't accept the ACT without the writing. I don't need the Writng to get into my safety schools and I think the counselors assumed everyone was just going to apply to the local state schools. Do I really need to take the whole test again in October?

However, if I get a 30+ on the test I may not even bother retaking the test anyways and just apply at my safety schools.

Just ask if you can pay the extra 30$ to take the writing section. You definitely want to take it.

You wouldn’t have to wait until next October. It is being offered again in June.

Can you still change it because my parents are willing to pay the extra $15 for the writing? Or do I need to pay the whole thing full-price without the waiver I was given from school?

Call the ACT and ask first thing tomorrow. I would think you could add writing. Registration hasn’t closed yet.

This is the phone number I found on their website for Student Services/Registration: 319-337-1270.
This is a link to their website where they address exactly what you need to do to add the writing. I hope this helps. You have to make any changes before the registration deadline which is March 8th, I think. With the fee waiver it may be a little more complicated, but definitely not impossible.

Thanks for the information!

Just found out that you can’t use the waiver for the Writing. You must pay full-price if you want to take the Writing test.

Hope this helps anyone experiencing a similar problem.
