I scored a 33 composite with a 19 writing. Only 2 of the colleges I am applying to require the writing score. However, I know that when I report my score to colleges, I have to send both the multiple choice and writing score. If a college I’m applying to does not require the writing score, will my attached writing score have any importance?
Even the 2 that currently require it may not next year. A number of schools that used to have recently announced they are dropping it. I don’t think it will be an issue at all honestly. If it really bothers you spend the $50 to get it regraded which you get back if they increase your score.
It is a confusing situation right now. Even colleges not requiring writing will see your writing score. Some have chosen to completely ignore writing, but many will view it as an additional piece of information that you “chose” to submit. Colleges don’t require AP Bio, for example, but that doesn’t mean it won’t come into play. I would recommend contacting the colleges to see whether or not they have a policy in place. In any case, your 33 carries far more weight.
