Hello everyone.
I got a pretty good score on my ACT (32), but a rather terrible one on the writing (7)
I got a 34 and a 36 on the english parts though, so I am hoping that somewhat offsets the writing score.
Can anyone tell me any information about what scores I should be looking for to get into the top schools (ivys + tufts)?
I am retaking the ACT, partly because of the writing and partly because I didn't near close finish neither the math nor the science parts last time, and if I do them quicker, I feel my score can greatly improve.
Again, any knowledge (especially knowledgeable knowledge! ) about the ACT writing score, especially ideal scores, would be greatly appreciated.

i got a 6 lol...i wrote all the relevant info but not enough

i thought id sound redundant if i kept going, boy was i wrong

i think a 10 and up would look good but I don't think colleges care about the writing score that much

^the above statement is blatantly fallacious^

I got a 34 with a 6 on the writing. I didn't retake and it hasn't hurt me so far.

I got 34 English, but a 7 on the essay.

Honestly, I really hated the topic.

The SAT/ACT essay is foolosh and colleges are somewhat aware, as they value it less! I got a 33 composite...i made a 36 on the english section but an 8 on the essay. On the other hand I got a 760 SAT Writing with a 10 essay I believe. The ACT essay I wrote was way better than my SAT one, but shorter. Regardless, I was accepted to Duke and everywhere else I applied so don't worry about your essay score!

Thats somewhat good to know. My DD got a 34 composite but only an 8 on her essay. It said she posted good arguments for each side but failed to show examples or defend? Or something like that. Anyway, she will retake the whole thing with the rest of her class in April so hopefully by then she has done some prepping to try and up that score.

Your name is charlie harper what would you know
