ACT Writing Section Question

I took the ACT test on October 24th 2015 and my composite was 29 (eng=30, maths=28, reading=31, science=25) and I was a bit sad. Upon further investigation, I realized I got 36 on my writing. I know it doesn’t count for composite, but does it a big difference at all or do universities only consider it as a tipper?

Universities I’m looking at are some of the UC’s, NYU, BU and Northwestern.

Thanks in advance.

HOW did you get a 36 on writing?

I too was surprised as I didn’t really practice for writing. But is it going to make that big of a difference? I heard that only the UC’s cared about them.
