For juniors who are taking the ACT this year, are you taking the writing part with it? If I take the new SAT and the ACT without the writing section do you think that would be good enough for most selective colleges?

I would take it, why not? It is not like it will be that hard or anything. It is required by Tulane and Northeastern (iirc), so I would take it to be safe. I will be taking it. Again, it is not worth it to find out it was needed. You might not NEED it if you took the SAT also, but you might to well!

well, if you are good at multiple choice parts but usually do really poor in writing section, then you might want to find out if you really need to take the writing section.
Because whether they require it or not, if you took it, they will gonna look at it and if you did poorly, I think it would be a disadvantage of you.

I already took the writing section on the February 12th ACT. It's REALLY basic, not anything you would encounter in an AP English class (or the test, for that matter). Most colleges (especially the top ones) also require it.

Rami, it would be foolish NOT to take it if colleges require it. That's like not taking the SAT II"s because you might score low, which would look bad. No matter what your score, colleges require that you take it.
