Why is it asking to put my highest per section? I only want to send my highest composite score to colleges. If I put the highest for each section, I will have to send all those composite scores as well, right?

So If i only want to send my highest composite, should I only put that test for the academics section?

There is a growing number of schools that “superscore” the ACT. That means, that they take the highest score from each section and put them together for one superscore. These superscores can be used for admittance, and/ or scholarships. Same thing applies to the SAT at some schools.

What if one school I am applying to superscores but the rest do not? The other schools will see my high scores but I just won’t send them those tests?

Well - I can tell you that it’s hard to always know who superscores for admission and scholarships … it’s not something you usually find on their websites. AND, sometimes when you call or email, you don’t get the right answers.

Is there a reason you are not just sending all test scores to all the schools you are applying?

I got my highest score on one test and the others are lower so I kind of don’t want them to see that.

But, I’m guessing you have a higher section score on a different test - right? Leading to a higher superscore?

I have to tell you - everything I’ve read - says that they take the highest score, whether it be the one sitting from the ACT or SAT … or the highest superscore - if they super. I’ve done a lot of reading - and everything indicates the other scores are not considered. I would say unless they are unusually low you are probably fine.

Other option - put the highest score for each section on the common app. Determine which superscore - and send all scores to them. It’s a risk. We were pretty diligent about finding this info out for the app process …and after my son received 1/2 tuition scholarship at one school, I finally got the right person to tell me that they superscore for scholarship - not admission. Believe me - we did a lot of research, and still didn’t know that. So the full tuition scholarships only went to 36 scores.

So it’s a risk either way. You can google ACT superscore admission - and there are some lists. Although I’ve read on here where some folks say this or that is wrong on those lists.

Might also matter if you are worried about the score impacting your ADMISSION - or Scholarship. If it’s scholarship - I say send them all. If its admission - either way has it’s pros and cons. Make sense?

Good luck on your decision.

I understand now, it’s kind of like a gamble but not so much since they may just take the highest composite.

Thanks for the post

You are welcome - good luck :)
