Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere - I did a search of this board but didn't look back too too far.

Some of my current junior students (the motivated early birds! :) ) are passionate actors who also love singing and want to continue their singing voice lessons in a rigorous way while in college. Any personal stories about schools which allow this and make it fairly easy to actually schedule would be extremely helpful! I already know:

Carnegie Mellon
Ithaca
Tisch (with voice lessons through Steinhardt)

But that's all I'm really sure of. Options can be BFA or BA. Thanks for the help! :)

Someone here will be able to enlarge on this-- but when D was at the BU summer theater program they assured her that she would be able to keep up voice lessons with the wonderful music dept at BU-- (in the same building). The emphasis there is classical voice and opera, so she wasn’t sure how that would fit for her.

Voice classes are definitely available for Acting majors at Coastal Carolina. The issue of course is fitting them into your schedule. If you have AP or dual enrollment credits that definitely helps but I think they really try and work with the students to get them what they need.

CCM seems to be an ideal setting for the kind of student you are describing! We have a close friend who just graduated CCM Drama and was easily able to take private voice lessons without a problem…

At University of the Arts, BFA Acting students can also minor in Musical Theater and have individual voice lessons with the MT voice teachers as part of the curriculum. Students can also take private voice lessons (on a fee basis) outside of the Acting curriculum with voice teachers from the MT program or the music program. Acting students can also audition for all the musicals and get additional coaching for roles, if cast, as part of the rehearsal process.
