I’m currently in community college, but I can’t afford a 4 year university. I’m taking gen eds right now, but need to finish my degree. my grades aren’t the best. I currently have a 2.7 GPA. My parents can’t take me out a student loan, and I don’t have a high enough credit score to take out a loan. I’ve applied for numerous scholarships, but no luck. I’m open to anything Colleges, conservatories, etc. I just want to learn
How soon will you finish your AA? Can you pull that GPA up a bit?
With a 2.7, your best option probably will be to attend a public university in your own state that has an articulation agreement for your current major. If you can’t afford to study full time, you can find a job and work while you study part time. Happykid works in theatre tech/design. She was able to find plenty of paying gigs to help with her expenses even while she was still at the CC. Many of the acting majors at her CC worked at Trader Joes. I don’t know where the acting majors at her state U worked. I do know that several took time off to make money and then went back to study.
Are you a US citizen or legal permanent resident? Then you can file the FAFSA, and you will qualify for a student loan that will cover part of your costs. You don’t need any kind of credit score to take out a federal student loan. If your parents don’t make much money, you also might qualify for a Pell grant. Go meet with the financial aid offier at your CC and find out how this works.
