Hi -My son was accepted to Oberlin with a great scholarship but also UMich (no scholarship). He is active in a bunch of clubs in high school, most important chess and ultimate frisbee, also plays an instrument. His high school is larger than Oberlin. How is the club/intramural environment? Is there enough people with enough interest to be well rounded?
@Kimster111 He might want to do some reading on the Oberlin student blogs, if he has not already done so. They are searchable by topic like student life, sports, etc. There is ultimate frisbee and chess on campus and many music opportunities for non-conservatory students, some of them being informal, student-led groups.
Regarding Chess, this is from 2 years ago.

There are Oberlin Chess and Ultimate FB pages, but I don’t think I can link them here.
Here is a link to the blogs: https://www.oberlin.edu/blogs
My kid is a second-year there so message me if you have further questions. Two great choices, congrats!
