Is there a consensus regarding whether or not a student should give the interviewer an activities resume? Does it seem pretentious or do interviewers welcome some insight from the student up front? Should the student simply ask the interviewer if he/she is interested in the resume at the beginning of the interview and let the interviewer decide? The question pertains to interviews at selective LACs. Thanks :)

No consensus. Simply ask. Some want it, others don’t. When students ask me if they should bring one, I tell them no. If someone hands one to me at our 1st mtg, I politely accept it (w/o making any judgments about pretentiousness). But I don’t refer to it during the session or in the write up afterward.

Simply ask.

I actually like to receive one ahead of time, as does my husband (different college). It allows us to think about questions as they pertain to the interests and passions of the student. So I agree – ask each interviewer.
