Activities Resume Formatting

I’m uploading an activities/awards/work/etc resume on the Brown online app, and wondering how they’ll be viewing these things. If it’s uploaded as a word doc, will it be opened as a word doc and printed as such? If that’s the case, should I be putting a header, footer, etc etc on my resume, and making sure everything fits properly onto the pages (adding extra line breaks to move stuff onto the next page if necessary, etc)?

And (cough), perhaps more importantly… what’s the general opinion on margin shrinking? Not, like, major shrinkage, but… reasonably so (mine is .9" on each side right now–I kind of wanted to fit it all onto four pages).

If it's uploaded as a word doc, they will convert it to a pdf when you open it. Everything will show up the way you typed it in the word doc (bold, underline, etc)

You can always just upload it, then view it, as there is a delete button.

"they" as in the website

click "view document" once it is uploaded and you will see the PDF they see.

Thanks. What about headers/footers, though? Do they want us to put, like, Name, DOB, SSN in the header at the top of each page, or should we leave that blank?

They put it all on for you, if you click "Print Application, it will show the pdf of your entire application including your essay.

Click Preview, then click Print.

Now you are looking at the printed version of your app that the Admissions committee will review.

EVERY applicant should do this to check for typos etc.
