Activity/Awards Section UC application?

How many transfers have Activities/Awards? I have tons of EC's but none for Activities.. how about you guys?

What do you mean?

You have a lot of extracurricular activities but no activities? did you mean awards?

I like it very much

^ I have lots of EC’s but no awards

I feel like anything is better than nothing. I put down deans list, a couple scholarships, and medaling in bjj competitions.

I’m sure you can be creative with it. Anything you are proud of? There is academic and other designations. I know someone that is putting down employee of the month and I think that is a valid honor, especially if your proud of it.

EC’s are not really important… Since you know and seek help from CollegeConfidential, you are most likely a good college student and have something like dean’s list to put in your award section. As for activities, volunteer hours from high school, a part-time job at Macy’s, be in the school’s tennis team (despite not winning a single match) and play piano for 2 months =) can already fill up all the blank spots. I’m just making stuff up for a typical college student, and I already got 5 things to put down in that section…

^ That is what I’m talking about!

Get creative. Anyone else have some examples? I’d love to hear it.

I am about to get creative with mine as well! Does anyone have every section filled out to the max in “Activities/Awards?”

I’m putting down that I built a nuclear bomb in my backyard, raised the flag at Iwo Jima, worked 80 hours a week as an alaskan crab fisherman, got dean’s list for a semester, etc…

Staring at my largely blank activities/awards section has really made me reflect on how unfulfilling my life has been. It’s definitely something to change.

^ I am in your exact situation.

How many awards does everyone have?

You can also put down things like “employee of the month” and scholarships. For the EC’s or activities (I forget how they are organized) you can put random things like, “helped elderly people in my community become more computer literate”. Get creative people. When they read the apps they are printed. Anything you leave blank will come out as a blank page, not good.

Anything creative we can do for the educational preparations? Maybe put down basic counselor visits but “liven” them up somehow? :D

I was in Cals TAP program last year and something similar at UCLA(and I got into both with almost zero REAL EC’s). The program heads for both programs told me not to leave more than 1 box blank, just write what you need to(but make it sound good). Tutoring… Going to conferences… informational meetings… Seminars.

Almost all schools have distinguished speakers come in and talk about whatever… Say you go and listen to speeches that relate to you major.

edit: I’m not telling you to flat out lie, Im assuming most people on this board have gone and researched their major, gone to informational meetings. Just use fancy words when you talk about those things :)
