Activity question - straightforward or creative?

for the question about the "school or summer activity in which you have been most involved," I'm going to write about music, and I have two music short responses that I wrote for other apps to choose from. One is very straightforward (Music is the most important activity...blah blah) while the other is very creative (The worn, dusty keys felt cold against my eagerly trembling fingers...and I give a kinda unique example but still tie it into how music is important to me.) so which one do you think georgetown wants? thanks for any opinions!

Def. go with the creative.

I don't really like "the worn, dusty keys felt cold against my eagerly trembling fingers"...it's a little exaggerated

but a passive tone "music is the most important blah blah blah" isn't great either. Try combing elements from both.

alright, thanks a lot! I think I'll just kinda rewrite the creative one, and makea few parts a little more straightforward, so they aren't too exaggerated.

k I have another question...is there any way I can include all the youth group stuff I've done? is it ok to put that in the "school activity" list?

I'd put it under your ECs.

Or attach a resume, which is what I did since I was slightly confused by the EC part of the application when I applied.

thanks everyone. ok I have have one FINAL question, I promise it's the last one, for awhile.. for the essays, I assume the "standard" setting is 12-point, single spaced. one of my essays is a little less than 2/3 a page, and the other is about 1 1/3. is this close enough to approximately one page?

My essays were both 1.5 spaced, however one was size 11 font while the other was size 12. I had to do that so they would both fit on a single sheet of paper. To be safe, I would just try to fit them on one piece each.

hm...so do you think it's ok to have it single-spaced size 10.5 ?

Yep! I think that's just fine. Good luck! :)

cause it might look strange if one is 10.5 and single spaced, while the other is 12 and 1.5, but both are 1 page...

oh sorry didn't see that reply

Just extend the margins a little. That may help.

There's a way to fit any essay on one sheet of paper, this is what I did. My essays varied in word length by I think 100 words, but they take the same amount of space on the paper. The secret: Change the spacing.

You know how to double space, or do 1.5 space, etc? Well, once you've set your margins to 1" all around (they're set default at 1.25 on the sides), click FORMAT and then PARAGRAPH. Under the "line spacing" option, go to "AT LEAST". In the box to the right, it will say 12 pt (or whatever your font size is). Change this number until the spacing is such that your essay fits for exactly a page. It should work like a charm.
