Actual cost of attending?

The website says tuition and room and board are 10k each but in buckeye link it says that the estimated cost of attending is 26k… Is this just an estimate that includes health insurance, books, and other miscellaneous things? Or was the website just wrong? Could a current student share the actual cost of attending? Now I’m worried

They probably included all that stuff to try and get an accurate estimate, but it depends on the individual.

If you don’t have a scholarship or any aid, then yes, 26k sounds about right. It’s about 20k for both tuition and room and board, though room and board keep getting more expensive. But don’t forget that there are also hidden “activity fees” and things. And yes, you have to buy books.

OSU isn’t cheap.

What do you mean by activity fees? And does OSU give need based scholarships at all? I did get the provost but online it says that at the end of March we get financial aid info…is that just going to confirm the scholarship I already got or do I get considered for more aid since my efc is a lot lower than 26k?

I can’t tell you about your fin aid situation–that’s between you and the university.

But at OSU there is a lot of “fine print”–activity fees, recreation fees, the student Union fee (that huge mall-like union didn’t pay for itself), the COTA bus fee, program and technology fees, and books. It’s feasible that OSU could run you 25k or so a year.

This semester I paid $11803.20 before any awards of aid of which I have some merit aid. I am in the college of Engineering- each college has some fees- and am taking 17 credit hours (there is a price increase at 19). I live on campus in a triple with the 350 block meal plan.
