I am currently a high school junior. I’m interested in going into actuarial consulting in the future, since I heard it is an excellent career choice. However, I am also very interested in econ, and don’t want to limit future to only the actuarial field
Would a double major in econ/actuarial science for college be beneficial/manageable ?
Yes! Actuarial is a respected and in demand field. Don’t limit yourself to schools that have a specific actuarial sciences major. Many going in this direction will major in applied or financial math but the school will have an actuarial club and advising to help you with recruiting and actuarial testing.
But be prepared to take a lot of math in school and near endless hours of studying over a multi year period after school to pass the actuarial exams to achieve your FSA designation.
