“In early September, Adams House underwent a subtle but substantial change: Administrators relabeled bathrooms throughout the House, replacing some gender-specific restrooms with gender-neutral ones. ‘We wanted to make a statement about everyone being welcome in the House,’ Adams House dean Adam Muri-Rosenthal said. ‘We could have avoided all gender-related issues by just putting a sign on the door that said “restroom,” but we wanted to be actively welcoming.’” …
This isn’t that earth shattering. Many schools already had unisex bathrooms. I doubt BGLTQ students there ever felt unwelcome or being forced to choose one gendered bathroom over another – since unisex bathrooms were commonly available.
I wonder if labeling all Adams bathrooms, they don’t need to accommodate some religious concerns?
The quote says “some” bathrooms were replaced with gender-neutral signs, not all. So the ones still gender-specific would seem to accommodate those users.
