Add/adhd

OMG, I have been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, OCD, minor tics, minor turretts, and all this **** when I was in elementary school. I'm an incredibly smart student. I have a 3.7, 1340 SAT. I plan on attending an amazing business school for finance next year. I was diagnosed for all of the following disabilities when I was in elementary school. I never really tried than, but started working my ass off in middle school. My questions, can ADD wear off? When you have more time on the ACT/SAT, do the colleges know you took longer, for the disability you have? Can people be smart with ADD? This has really been *ing me off since I was small, depresses the * out of me! [Psychologists just hand out medicine everytime you visit them, before even knowing you have ADD for sure. They're like "here you go, I recommend Stratera" right when you enter the door!] It's ridiculous; they treat you like a retard... DOES TAKING LONGER ON TESTS MEAN YOU HAVE ADD, EVEN THOUGH YOU MADE BETTER THAN THE WHOLE CLASS TAKING IT????? THEY ALWAYS ASK WHY I ALWAYS MAKE THE HIGHEST ON ALL THE TESTS, BUT AM ALWAYS THE LAST ONE FINISHED!

Another thing, I have incredible ambition... Ever since 6th grade, I knew everything I wanted to pursue... Am I just a genius with ADD, I lost it, or my ambition just makes up for it?

I'm not too sure but I was diagnosed with ADD ADHD and OCD as well and I do struggle at times but I still do fairly well (3.53 at a top 50 honors college) but with these problems it's much, much harder and I know I am very capable of a 4.0. If you feel as if you don't need then that's perfectly fine. I believe not taking it is the smart choice because you can become dependent on it for the rest of your life. And I also take longer, but that's due to my OCD of over checking absolutely every answer like 4-5 times. If you're doing fine, screw them.

I don't know the answer to the question, but something i can tell you is just because you get a 3.7 and a 1340, does not mean you are a genius. I have an iq of 75 and i currently have a 4.0 in college. My SAT score was 2250. And i can honestly say that i'm far from being considered a genius.

Yury, do you take medicine?

I take the homeopathic vaxa attend. Not sure if it's working, but it's compeltely safe. hence why i tried aksing on here if anyone has tried it. but my only major issues are procrastinaiton and inattentiveness. As for the genius segment, I've basically taken all the necessary tests and it's a safe bet to sya I am pretty close to one if I'm not one. I studied 20 minutes for a final and did better than almsot the entire class, and people studied hours.

Haha, that doesn't make sense. You have ADD, OCD and you it only took you 20 minutes to study for a test that you did better than almost the entire class. Either you don't have ADD, you had foreknowledge of the answers to the test, you knew the material on the test already (good memory) and you just needed to brush up, ofr you're lying. Answer don't just magically poof into your head during a test that requires extensive learned knowledge. People are all too quick to deem themselves geniuses. Rule of thumb: some one who claims that are a genius is most likely an overexaggerated braggart. No offense.

Yea i agree. way too many people think highly of themselves insofar as calling themselves geniuses. I feel you gista369, i too have a low iq. i have a 90 iq, but i do superbly in school - of course, with the help of medicine.

I am not over exaggerating. Due to my ADHD I have moments of hyper attentiveness, almost always under serious pressure where I remember absolutely everything I read...

i have add/adhd and I maintain a 3.94 GPA without any extra time. the trouble for me is not during the test, but rather the studying, in which I must find a room with ZERO noise and absolutely nothing in it. even then it takes a good 1-2 hours for my mind to focus. my iq is 147 which is supposedly in the genius range, but I really don't consider myself a genius, however if I didn't have attention disorders I would probably be the valedictorian of my class

I'm surprised and saddened that people here seem to think ADD = stupid. Most if not all AD(H)D people I know have above-average intelligence.

I used to be able to hyper-focus when I was younger (like when I was reading a particularly enjoyable book) but I seem to have lost some of that ability.
