ADD Question re: Application?

Our student was diagnosed very early in Sr. year and placed on ADD Meds. Prior to being on medication had an 84%
. Currently has has shown considerable inprovement, is perfoming at 91% with 3 APs 1260 SAT. Early action may not show this improvement and the 4 yerar accum will influence merit aid. Any suggestions on how to address the application process? Looking for direction here

Be sure your child’s school GC mentions this in the LOR. I am not sure it will up the chance of merit aid, but it could help with acceptances. Submit the apps as late as possible and ask for progress reports, to be submitted by the GC. Hopefully the teachers will be okay with making progress reports.

My son’s GC suggested that you put on the college app that your child has ADHD. That will help explain the higher ACT/ SAT scores and lower gpa

The GC can indicate ADHD diagnosed on (date), medications begun on (date), with resulting improvements in academic performance. They can’t give merit aid based on speculation so not sure if this would have an effect, but it contributes to the schools’ knowledge of who your son is, and what kind of student he now has the potential to be. Glad the medications are working! Scheduling issues can make meds challenging in the college years but it sounds like he has worked things out already.
