I am applying to biology-related majors and I want to do pre-med, but none of my ECs are science related at all (most of them are music or art related). Should I explain why I haven’t had the opportunity to volunteer at a hospital, do a medical summer program, or join Science National Honor Society in the Personal Insight Additional Comments section? My explanation would be that I searched for summer medical programs, but my family would always plan vacations for the summer and so I couldn’t apply. I wanted to take a biology class at the local college in the summer as well, but same reasoning. Regarding Science National Honor Society, I knew I wouldn’t be able to fulfill their volunteering requirements because I had already committed myself to volunteering at the library, as well as working.
