Some of the Ivy League schools (Yale, Harvard, etc.) have a place for the applicant to submit another complete essay along with the “additional information” section. So, I had just written a full-length essay that discusses stuff that I would have just explained more briefly in the additional info section. Can I include my longer essay in the Additional Info section for BU’s commonapp supplement or should I just re-write it so it’s just a little ditty about my situation?

you can include your longer essay as a supplement but don't do it unless you're sure the admissions staff will really include it with your application as a whole. erin [she works in admissions below head of admissions & she reads applications and sends out decisions] always tells me to tell prospective students to include supplemental essays if they know it will have an impact on getting into bu because they have enough to read as is ... just make sure it's worth it.
