Hi guys, I had a question about what to include on the addition info section of the common app.
I’ve read that its a good idea to explain any severe health issues that may have caused unusually low grades or test scores. For me, I became very sick during one year of high school, but that doesn’t show on my transcript because I just worked extra hard to make good grades. The only apparent thing that was affected by my sickness was that I missed one year of track (even though I still went to all practices I couldn’t compete), and I had much slower times in the next cross country season. Is this worth mentioning in the additional info section or should I just leave it? Thank you!
I disagree. First, I hope you are better - that’s the important thing. Second, explanations like this should be made by the GC, not you. Such an "explanation from an applicant will be perceived as making excuses and whining. Third, I would not have the GC mention it if it did not impact your grades. Good luck.
Thank you for replying!
