Additional Info "Semi-Essay"

I already wrote a 3-paragraph semi-essay (it was mainly just explaining, not justifying) about my extenuating circumstances. My GC is also writing about it in a separate email. In this case, would it be okay if I were to include this in my additional info, even though the length is a bit long?

If it thoroughly but succinctly explains your extenuating circumstances from your perspective, I would include it. But f it only repeats information that your GC will provide in that email and nothing more, I would consider whether it’s necessary to include it at the risk of being redundant.

The GC should explain it in the Rec form he/she is writing for you, not just mention it in an email. There’s no guarantee that an email will end up in your application file for all the admissions reviewers to see it.

Also, awkward extenuating circumstances are better explained by the GC than it coming directly from you-- it carries more weight that way.

If GC has explained the situation in his/her Rec, to your your satisfaction, then no need for you to mention it again and draw further attention to a negative. Your essays are your opportunity to present yourself in the best light possible, and not to serve as an apology.

@GMTplus7 My GC already wrote my rec, so the only way is to write an email or physical letter.

If my GC talks about it in a separate letter/email, then should I not bother to write about it in my additional info? And yes, I know, I didn’t write anything about my extenuating circumstances in my essays, that’s why I’m asking this.
