I just sent a research paper for review in a peer reviewed journal. I sent this update to harvard admissions this weekend but still havent gotten a reply. Is it too late for them to consider?

1) you *expected *a reply over the weekend?
2) Is it too late? Who can tell? Why worry about something you have no control over?
3) If you’re deferred, it’ll certainly be considered.

I agree with T26E4. Although full committee meetings were probably taking place this weekend, the file room staff was most likely off on Saturday and Sunday. You should get a confirmation of your email, but with the volume of applications being processed, I would not expect one this week. Is it too late? I think you need to be realistic: Even if Admissions received your email about your research paper being submitted for peer review, the research paper itself has not been reviewed by the appropriate academic department at Harvard. As such, an email about a research paper will not likely tip the balance if your application is on the fence. If you are deferred, you should certainly send Admissions an abstract and a copy of the research paper to be reviewed by the appropriate department.

I thought that I might receive an automated response this weekend…
But will a research publication significantly influence my decision? I also have another paper under review. I included the abstract of the first one in my Common App additional info section. The paper is currently under review and has not yet been accepted but journals take at least 3-4 months before they come back with a decision.

A published research paper might significantly increase your chances, but just having a paper submitted, but not accepted, probably won’t do the same thing.
