Additional Information Section

For this section, can I just list the information in bullet points? Or should it be in proper essay format?

Do whatever as long as it’s as short as you can make it while still getting the necessary info through. You can’t do actual bullets on CA, but I did dashes.

Thank you very much!

Depends on what you are listing. Do NOT put anything in here that is repetitive with what is already covered elsewhere in the app. Do NOT put extra essays in here.

The types of things you might put in here:

 • Lists of awards for an EC or a few descriptive bullet points for something that you feel needs a bit more explanation than the tiny activities space allows.
 • Things that don’t fit anywhere else on the app (eg, there is no place to list a MOOC, I think)

Some people use this space to explain reasons for a dip in grades, but if possible I think that info is better communicated by your Guidance Counselor. If you do put something like that in, I would write it as a brief, high level paragraph (they really don’t want the gory details…).

I think formatting is kind of a challenge in the current version of the common app. I have seen advice to format in a plain text editor (not word), and put an extra space in where you want a line break. Then paste that in. Print it out to see how it looks and to proofread, though (actually something you should do with the entire application).
