Additional Way of Studying for Vocab Helpful

I use flashcards for both roots and vocab. Although some think that this will not be as beneficial as, say doing practice tests, I have a lot of time which I think will be otherwise wasted if I do not understand and memorize words. I use the Kaplan PSAT book lists for both my roots and vocab. My question now is that, when I take practice tests from the Official Study Guide, should I add the words unknown to me to my list of vocab to memorize, or is this a waste of time. I have taken 2 practice tests and have about 60 unknown words, so you can see it will take a lot of time to memorize all these. Is this effort worth it alongside the flashcards derived from the normal vocab lists?

Also, should I be worried I do not know most of the words in the thread "This is the best way to master Vocabulary."?

P.s. Sorry for the double post but I could not find the edit option for my post.

dude u should try to remeber words from mnemonics...check out my mnemonics thread and it mite help u. Also if u can add some words that would be gr8

Anyone else think what I'm doing will help? And should I go over the words in the "best way to master vocab" thread?

Continue to write the words you don't know as you take the practice tests, because chances are that you'll see those words again. To tell you the truth I did the same thing when I first started studying for SAT. Usually I looked at the "fill in the blanks" questions and picked out the unknown words. I still do this when I take the practice tests but there may be like 5 words I don't know.
Try to memorize those 60 words you got from practice tests. It won't take that much time. I've memorized more in just a couple of days. Write them down on flashcards, and memorize about 30 words a day. You don't really need to know the specific defenition of the roots, but having a general feeling helps. Like for example, the words with prefixes de- mostly have a negative meaning, and that sort of thing.
And one last thing, some time ago I found this word list online. Once in a while, when I take the practice tests, I come across few words that I learned from this list. I'll post the link below, because I think it's a good vocab list :)

hope this helps,

Ditto and try to increase your memorization speed and capacity as you go. For instance make it 50 a day after first 2 weeks.

Thanks for all the input. I will keep on doing what I'm doing and I will try to memorize that list of words too. I think this is a good method as I have 2.5 months ahead of me before the psat and at least 5 months before the sat.

I write down over 100+ unknown words after any practice test. I was memorizing them along with Sparknotes 1000 Common Sat Words, but recently I lost interest in it. It's very boring.
Any hints? I'm taking the Oct test.
