Pardon my ignorance, but I'm currently a rising senior trying to do some research. Is it true that the administration is unresponsive and generally unhelpful to undergraduates? Any anecdotes will be very much appreciated.

Please do not flame me; I apologize in advance for my ignorance and if I am very much mistaken, but again, any personal input that may shed light on the matter will be appreciated.

Thanks, haha =D

it’s a bureaucracy, has its upsides and its downsides. as long as you can find a prof whose been at columbia a while and knows his/her way around you’ll be fine. essentially you just wanna find a prof who can help you navigate the bureaucracy. at times i’ve had to call a bunch of different offices to try to get info that they each claimed the other/someone other than themselves had, but other times having one office/department not know stuff that another office/dept/prof did was really helpful (e.g. “sorry i was late for your class professor, i had a midterm for another class that took a bit longer than the class usually does, not that i just find your class incredibly boring and would use any possible excuse to miss a few minutes of it”).

O yeah, I found the other thread. Sorry about that lol, should probably lock this one
