administrative stuff to do before orientation?

<p>So, seeing as Columbia is often pretty bad on telling you what you have to do*, what "administrative" stuff do we have to do before orientation?</p>

<p>For Example:
- Housing
- Student ID Picture (* ie. something I never got a notice to do)
- Vaccinations</p>

<p>btw, we don't have to pay for the new term yet right?</p>

<p>Thanks in advance!</p>

<p>I know when I was an incoming freshman, all the info of what I needed to do was in the various things they sent me. Are you sure you’ve read it all?</p>

<p>As a fellow 2013-er, I just copied and pasted from [Student</a> Services : Welcome](<a href=“http://www.columbia.edu/cu/studentservices/welcome/:]Student”>http://www.columbia.edu/cu/studentservices/welcome/:) </p>

<p>Things to Do</p>

<pre><code>* Activate your Columbia UNI and email address.

  • Upload a photo for your University ID card by July 20.
  • Review your Student Account Statement online after August 18 and ensure that fall term payment is received by September 11 to avoid the late payment charge. Once the statement is available, an alert will be sent to your Columbia email address.
  • Complete the provided measles, mumps and rubella record and submit to Health Services by mail or fax before August 31.
  • Record your meningococcal meningitis vaccination decision online before registering for classes.
  • Choose one of three insurance options: confirm your automatic enrollment in the Basic level of the Columbia Student Medical Insurance Plan, upgrade your selection to the Comprehensive level or request a waiver. Do so online before September 30.
  • Submit a Minor Authorization Form (if applicable) before August 31 to Health Services.
    </code></pre>

<p>After you receive the Housing Incoming Students Welcome email later this summer:</p>

<pre><code>* Complete your Housing Assignment Occupancy Agreement online by July 31.

  • Review and confirm your Dining Plan choice noted in the email you’ll receive. Purchase optional Dining Dollars or a Flex account.
    </code></pre>

<p>And no, we don’t have to pay for the new term just yet.</p>

<p>Did you receive the checklist in the mail? The dates items are due are on that. Also, have you set up your email account.</p>

<p>Nope, I didn’t receive that checklist in the mail. It’s from [Student</a> Services June Mailing : Welcome](<a href=“http://www.columbia.edu/cu/studentservices/greetings/]Student”>http://www.columbia.edu/cu/studentservices/greetings/). In fact, I haven’t received mail from Columbia in a really long time. </p>

<p>And technically, you don’t really need to “set up” your email account. Just activate your UNI and log in Cubmail and viola…there’s your email account.</p>

<p>You also need to:</p>

<p>**Submit your outside scholarship notification form anddd</p>

<p>**Submit the Named Scholarship Notification form if you received a university grant.</p>

<p>Both items are due July 31st–they were sent to our UNI emails.</p>

<p>Thanks for the replies and helpful information!</p>

<p>For internationals:</p>

<p>submit the online application for the I-20 form and supporting documents</p>

<p>where do we upload this photo that we need for our ID?</p>

<p>Here’s the site, just follow the directions: [Student</a> Services June Mailing : Submit an ID Card Photo](<a href=“http://www.columbia.edu/cu/studentservices/welcome/docs/ID_photo/index.html]Student”>http://www.columbia.edu/cu/studentservices/welcome/docs/ID_photo/index.html)</p>

<p>thank you.</p>
