Admission chances for an international student for Cockrell

Hi, I'm a 11th grade international student interested in applying to the Cockrell School of Engineering, planning to major in Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering. UT Austin will most probably be my first choice university.

My predicted stats are as follows:
SAT: 2200+ M 760+, W 740+, CR ~700
SAT 2: Maths II 760+, Physics 760+
Studying phy, chem, maths, bio and English
Good GPA, school doesn't rank, but I'm probably in the top 25% (very hard to determine, competitive school, tough curriculum)
Top 3 in my school in various maths and science olympiads over the years
Self studying AP Physics B (expecting a 5, it's mostly equal to our 11th standard physics, though we do calculus in 11th)

ECs:
Assistant Sports Secretary (will automatically become Sports Secretary next year, unless I'm nominated for the post of School Pupil Leader, in which case I'll be the SPL or an Asst SPL)
Rowing (3.5 years); will probably represent my state in the nationals, have won a gold medal at the Asian level in an inter-school regatta
Debating (3 years); school team, prospect for the national team for the World School Debate Championship
Model UN; have won numerous prizes at the school and college level
Football (soccer, 8 years); goalkeeper for the school team, 2nd in state tournament, qualified for and played in the inter-school nationals
IAYP; currently pursuing gold award

My main concerns are the competitiveness of admissions to the engineering school and my class rank. Also, I have next to no volunteering hours due to my hectic schedule, but I do do a lot of work in school. Are international admissions crazily competitive because 75%+ students are auto admits from Texas? Any opinions will be appreciated, thanks!!

…anyone??

Bump…

Re-post when you have actual scores.

While some schools require SAT subject tests, many do not. Texas does not. Moreover, many admissions committees will not even look at them even if you send them. Other schools will examine everything you send them. So, check first before sending. In addition, Texas, like many other schools, will only look at your best ACT/SAT score should you take the test multiple times and send the results to UT.

Scoring a 760 on the SAT Math II is not too hard. Scoring that on Physics B is harder, but far from uncommon: you can get an 800 if you get something like 65/75 right. Of course, answering that many questions in the allotted time is a challenge. The 50th percentile on the Physics B is something like 650/660. (Since one can choose which subject tests to take and people choose those subjects they’re best at, there exists a ‘selection bias’ that leads to high scores.)

To the university’s credit they attempt to set aside a few hundred slots each year for international students. Admission is competitive, but if you can break 2200 on the SAT, you will be in excellent shape, but that score is roughly the cutoff for the 99th percentile and as such is hard to achieve. In my opinion, any composite score over 2100 will put you enough above the average for Cockrell (2025) that you’d be in great shape.

Thanks, will do!!

UT says they keep SAT 2 scores aside, and only use them for placement if you’re admitted.

My predicted scores are based on the results of numerous practise tests; I’m taking the actual test in Jan.

I couldnt find any info on the availability of scholarships for international students from the PetE department. Would you happen to know anything about this?
