Admission chances

@pierre0913 I have a few more questions. What would you recommend for freshmen housing? Also, could you talk a little bit more about greek life? Is there a greek row? What do you find clemson students typically wearing to classes and just around campus(both girls and boys)? (preppy? athletic? and sweats? polos? sundresses?uggs?)

For freshman housing, Clemson House is by far the nicest option. The con of Clemson House is that the location is a little out of the way. After that, I wouldn’t say that there is a big difference between the High Rises (Byrnes/Manning/Lever) or the Shoeboxes. I prefer the Shoeboxes because it’s closer to the stadium, main dining hall (Harcombe), Fike Recreation Center etc… but you can’t go wrong either way. At the very bottom of the list should be Johnstone. That dorm needs to be rebuilt ASAP.

There is a greek “quad” but not a greek row (they are looking into maybe building one sometime down the road but that might be in a while). About 20% of Clemson students participate in greek life. I’m not sure exactly what you want me to say about Greek Life but feel free to follow up with other questions (I’m not Greek but I have many friends that are so I could refer you to them if you have detailed questions).

When I got into Clemson I thought I would have to dress up for classes but overall, Clemson is your typical college campus and people dress like college students. People in Greek Life will dress up (sometimes a lot) more than people not in greek life and maybe a little more people dress on the nicer side of things but on the whole people just dress like your typical college campus.

To throw in another thing about housing. Clemson House has some nice rooms but in my opinion it is a bit isolated. Its not that much farther away(closer to the town) but its still farther than everything else is. The shoe boxes are old and the rooms are quite small, but they are actually re doing these dorms soon! They are getting brand new furniture in them and all furniture will be loftable(Gonna make these dorms so much nicer). The towers are in a location I like but the rooms too are small and the hallways are quite tight. Johnstone and Johnstone annex are absolutely awful-some of the nastiest dorms Ive been in at any college Ive been too. Holmes and McCabe are pretty nice too(one of them is honors only though, cant remember which one)

^agreed about Clemson House. Still disagree about the High Rises as I think the Shoeboxes are in a better location (also the dining hall by the High Rises closes on the weekend, so you have to trek over to the Shoeboxes side of campus anyways). Also, the rooms in the Shoeboxes are actually bigger than those in the High Rises and there is a sink in the Shoeboxes rooms. The positive thing about the High Rises is that since they are “towers”, more freshman will be living in them so there are a lot of freshman in the area. Yes, Johnstone is god awful and Holmes/McCabe are nice. Holmes Hall is the honors dorm.

In case you’re wondering, I got in. Probably was a little too concerned, if you’re close to those credentials you should have a good chance. I ended up choosing Penn State, no regrets there.
