Accepted :)

@Crazysah the letters went to my boarding school. I’m on spring break right now.

Staying on the waitlist seems really tricky. I know they advice you turn in your deposit to your second choice school, but does anybody know if vassar has a deposit or not and how much is it if they do ?. I wouldn’t really want to have to pay 2 deposits if I do eventually get admitted.

Accepted from New York City :)!

@WinnLK: When are you going back?

@Crazysah Sunday. :)

@Crazysah (as in a week from today)

Congrats to those who are accepted, and regrets to those who were disappointed.

Are there other people who haven’t heard yet? My D hasn’t gotten any e-mail from them. We know they have the e-mail right because she did get the preliminary note saying it would be released, just haven’t heard since.

I’m trying to decide at what point we’d contact them to see if there was some glitch, but certainly not if others here are still waiting to hear.

Thanks!

^ i didn’t get an email either, just logged straight in to the portal. you should see the letter as soon as you log in.

@WinnLK: Can’t you just call them and find out?

500 dollars for deposit

Thanks, CYou, and to the person who linked the portal. It’s also comforting to see that you got in - that a missing e-mail doesn’t spell doom.

I’ll leave it to my D to log in and check. Thanks again, and good luck to everyone in their college choices.

How many internationals did Vassar admit this year, who required financial aid?

I am an Indian student, and was rejected. Not to be all proud, but my belief is that I was rejected primarily because I asked for substantial aid. I put a lot of heart into my application; particularly, my essays.

I just want closure now :_(

Thanks for the link - it worked. Sadly, D was rejected. Not a first choice school, but it’s always a downer to hear “no, you can’t.”

Vassar is highly selective that’s all… and its “need-blind” where they do not look at your financial records to make the decision. I believe that Vassar looked at a lot of applicants and they picked the people that actually fit into the environment more to than their academic criterion (which would explain the whole “Yourspace” section). I honestly made it as quirky and unique as possible–something that vassar students would do and made my essay really unique. I had low SATs where my verbal was on the lowest 9% and the score out of 1600 was the lowest on the scale accepted which led me to believe that Vassar is REALLY SELECTIVE but I’m not too sure about being diverse… This is what I thought about this years admissions…

EmmyBet: no problem! sorry about your D, although i’m sure there are lots more colleges she can choose from! good luck :)

Yeah, I thought the part on the waitlist where they requested that you make sure to list Vassar as your number one choice was kind of suspect. I understand that they only want to take people they think REALLY want to go, but surely adding that line was overkill? I mean Vassar isn’t my first choice, so I’m discouraged from applying to be placed higher on the waitlist, which was their goal, but it does in fact seem a bit desperate. I have no hard feelings or anything, and I congratulate all of those who got in!!!

hisuniverse, vassar is need blind for domestic but need aware for internationals.

How would you even go about telling them that Vassar is your first-choice and that you would definitely enroll if accepted?
