Admission Decisions Class of 2023

Where did you see the VIP ID?

@bjo114 hope this is good news for you! Can you tell me where on the site VIP ID is? Thanks!

Yes, where are you seeing this link? @bjo114 @jrrugg

Ok, I did a search on UofSC’s Home page and found a link to find your VIP ID. One has been assigned. Does this mean an admittance or do they assign a VIP ID to all applicants?

The site says VIP ID’s are for current faculty, staff, students and pre-admitted students. From website
“if you’re a newly admitted student you can use the last four digits of your Social Security Number to see your VIP ID and set your password.”

I found my daughter’s VIP number so fingers crossed that means acceptance still no letter in New Jersey

Same here! Located in W. PA and received a response from the Admissions person assigned to our area that said an admission decision was mailed on Wednesday and should arrive this week. Did not indicate what the decision was, but finding the VIP ID seems like a positive. @apdnj

Do you think calling admissions with the VIP number would get a response to confirm admittance?

I found a VIP number for my son as well and we have not received any letters in PA. I emailed our admission rep for our area yesterday and she said that the letters all went out on Friday. Keeping my fingers crossed that something comes today or tomorrow!!

It seems as if you don’t get a VIP ID unless admitted but it also says that you get access to your VIP ID if you applied for financial aid. Not sure if that means in addition to your admittance or one or the other.

What is my VIP ID? Your VIP ID is an eight-digit number that has been assigned to
you by USC, providing you access to multiple university sites. If you have been
offered admission to the university, you can find your VIP ID in your acceptance
letter. You’re also given access to your VIP ID if you’ve applied for financial aid.

@matchfit Here is a link to the program information at U of SC http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/cdvt/home
My daughter knows all the particulars on the demographics but I know the program is very new (I believe its in its second year now) and not a large program in terms of number of students admitted. We had the pleasure of meeting the associate dean and creator of the program on our visit to the college. I don’t think it’s necessarily designed for pre-med students, but you may be able to use it as a stepping stone to other medical related careers with additional schooling. The curriculum and required academic classes are listed in the link I posted but there is also an intensive 18 month clinical program required to graduate (as is with most medical majors). If you are interested in more information, I’m sure you can find additional information on the website or contact someone at U of SC. They were a great resource for my daughter when she was deciding if that was the program for her (which is positive about now)! Good luck!

I was able to ge the VIP Id too - hope it means something. No mail yet here in NJ - should arrive in about and hour or 2 -fingers crossed.

“If you have been offered admission to the university, you can find your VIP ID in your acceptance letter”

Found this on website, pretty sure having a VIP ID means we have been accepted. Or at least it makes sense.

what happens when you log into My Carolina?

My son was able to get the VIP ID, too - has anyone NOT been able to get theirs? I really hope that means something good.

@threeforthree I agree! I was optimistic that this meant something but looks like all of us have been able to access the VIP ID! Almost wish I didn’t go down this rabbit hole! LOL!

I just went deeper down the hole! I logged in with VIP ID and went to Freshman Checklist and received this message:

You are not currently considered to be a new freshman. Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at USC-Columbia at 803-777-7700 for more information.

I assume this means she didn’t get in! I would think this would be active if letters were all sent last week!

so if it says “pre-admitted” students - what is the definition of that? I think that just means applicants, no? My guess is that unless you can access content once in that indicates you have been admitted (like housing deposit, etc), it’s not going to tell us anything

tried logging in received this message.

@tc1207 thanks for the info. Sounds like a great opportunity.
