No letter in NJ yet- admissions said if you don’t receive it by the 20th call them and they can resend! She said letter s were mailed the 13 or 14th of Dec.
Still nothing in NY…I can’t believe how incredibly stressful and frustrating this is.
this isn’t the first year SC is communicating application decisions, so they should definitely have worked out a more efficient process to coordinate acceptances at the same time like other schools. It definitely makes me question things about the school because they should realize that such a disjointed process does not make for a great candidate experience and diminishes the thrill of being accepted (if that is the decision) and frustrates those who aren’t because of the week of torture waiting while peers received their notifications- I’m very insecure now when friends ask me whether the envelope arrived because I am convinced it’s a rejection and wish it would just be over.
Well said @2023collbound !!! You nailed it!! Surely we will all know something by tomorrow, the 19th. I’m just hoping this VIP ID is good news. @threeofthree did you get the USPS alert all set up?
Has any SC admissions reps mentioned HOW these were mailed? Does the envelope qualify for the reduced “media” rate? If so, USPS states those can take 8 days…that combined with the weather in Charlotte- who knows?! We are waiting in CA and very disheartened to see that those of you in the South and Northeast are still waiting!
@macusc thank you so much for this suggestion! I had never heard of this service before. Just signed up!!
I don’t know how these were mailed but I received 2 cards from friends in SC yesterday that were mailed on Friday and they were not coming from the state capital - lol. I’m focusing my energy on C of C now because DS likes that school too.
@macusc all signed up but a nervous wreck over here!!!
I don’t think they’d qualify for bulk rate. I work in marketing for a nonprofit, and when I use reduced rates, the letters can’t have individualized names on the inside of the packet. They all have to have the exact same thing in each envelope. I’m bracing for a deferred status for my son, but after this wait - just knowing that will be a relief. This anxiety level is tough!
For those of you wondering what happens if an admitted student logs into the Self Service site with the VIP id, I just dd this with my daughter’s information (she received her acceptance letter last month). I was able to enter the site and it showed three boxes (Personal Information, Student and Account Information). Clicking each box opens a page with many more boxes where various information can be shown or revised.
Unfortunately I don’t know if this really helps you out though, because my daughter received her letter a few weeks ago, so maybe it takes some time for this site to be updated. I would think the first site to be updated would be the application site, which updated with a banner “Welcome to South Carolina”. I’m not sure when this updated though because we didn’t think to look at the application site for some time after she got the letter.
Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. Best of luck to all of you. I can only imagine how frustrating the wait must be!
i live in SC again nothing in the mail today aggravated
@macusc thank you so much for the usps suggestions. I just signed up!
We also have been following the twitter account. U of SC admissions - Mary Wagner, head of admissions does a good job responding to people quickly. Head over there too!
if anyone was recently admitted and the portal hasn’t updated to show admitted yet, it would be great to know what the screen is you see when you log into the My Carolina site with your VIP ID
^^^ Agree. This would be very helpful to see.
One of my Ds classmates submitted their application on the Regular Decision deadline (dec 1) and received her acceptance letter today. Any idea why this could be or how this is possible? My D submitted her application in september and we’re still waiting to hear back.
@gc19 My husband said that was going to happen. They put the regular decision apps due dec1 and don’t mail out the early answer until dec 12th (so they say) so they can see who may be higher grades, scores etc and accept them over the others. My daughter submitted beginning of October and haven’t heard anything. I am guessing she hasn’t gotten in if they moved on to regular decisions. It’s so unfair to do this to the kids around Christmas. Just let them know so they can move on
This is interesting considering on the website it says that RD get their admissions decisions in March. I wonder if this has happened in previous years or if they’re changing and doing rolling admissions for RD. I don’t see how this if fair to the kids who submitted their application before the October 21st deadline and are still waiting for the decision when kids who applied on December 1st are getting theirs… What are your daughters stats if you don’t mind me asking?
We rec’d the letter today (finally), but IDK anything about a VIP ID and Indont see anything like that on the letter. It does tell you to log in and check under forms for the checklist so maybe there is something there? My D has already gone to bed b/c final exams in the am. I can ask her to check tomorrow.
Congratulations to your daughter!!! Where are you located, stats, major, etc?
