Admission Decisions Class of 2023

@gamom3372. Congratulations to your daughter!!! Where are you located, stats, major, etc?

Wellā€¦got our email from the post office and no letter!! Utterly ridiculous

Same here, nada

@macusc I didnā€™t get an email from USPS so I logged on and it says 0 mail today, so Iā€™m thinking since I get my mail later in the day, Iā€™ll get my mail scanned in later. Iā€™m still hopeful to know what the decision is today but feel pretty discouraged. At this point Iā€™m really thinking the VIP ID is just because they had to put them in the system for checking on their application and these late ones are on the so-called bubble so they waited to make those decisions. USC and UT are the only large schools my son applied to, all the other ones are smaller. This is kindof making me see the appeal of a small school. Two years ago, my oldest heard from USC in late November after applying in early November (accepted, good stats but wouldnā€™t have blown their minds 1260 SAT and 4.2 gpa). I think theyā€™ve had an issue of some kind. I hope we find out what it was/is so we can understand better- but right now Iā€™m just sad and mad and so so so anxious!!

Does anyone have anymore information regarding the VIP ID for UofSC? If you review the discussion yesterday, it was noted that many people have been able to locate their VIP ID on the UofSC website and this number is only assigned to Admitted Students. After people tried to login to certain admission functions, they could not but I believe that is because you need to accept the admissions offer and it does take a few days after you are admitted to get you in the system which allows you to go through the admission checklist. Here is how the VIP ID is defined on the website ā€œThe site states, The VIP ID is an eight-digit number that is assigned to you when you are offered admission to the university. It is used to log in to Self Service Carolinaā€. Some have also read that this number is assigned if you have applied for financial aid ā€œFAFSAā€, but several people who located their VIP ID did NOT apply for FAFSA. ANY THOUGHTS?

Iā€™m trying to keep hope alive. We just emailed the ā€œcounselorā€ that is from link on the status application pageā€¦ asking for an answer. Twitter showed people getting their letter yesterday, and we know of one was from Mt. Pleasant.

We emailed our assigned counselor as well (Over the weekend). He responded on Monday evening with what we have already been told. He said the decision was mailed last Wednesday and if we donā€™t receive it by the end of this week to let them know and they will re-send. He gave no indication as to positive or otherwise.

@pama3115 I was able to locate my sonā€™s 8 digit VIP ID and create a log in, and have not even started his FAFSA. If thatā€™s what the website says the VIP ID is, thatā€™s a great sign, but Iā€™m so skeptical!

Their office closes on the 21st!

Nothing in SC either but I do know for those of you getting your mail through USPS sign up they do not scan large envelopesā€¦so if you have a notice saying there is additional mail unscanned there is still hope today. I also was able to get VIP idea and have not applied for financial aid as of now. Has anyone heard of anyone being declined or sent a 2nd review letter??

I have not heard of any declines or 2nd reviews from friends or others, but I suspect most people would not post about bad news. @gvillemom85

Also, received Christmas cards from Columbia today postmarked on 17th so that is a 2 day timeline from Columbia to upstate, SCā€¦ Hope they are not mailing out the bad news and closing up for Christmas ā€¦

I know I may be reaching, but it may be that they consider ā€œmailing decisionsā€, preparing all of the letters in their mail room and they donā€™t all get to the actual post office on they day they indicated.

Not sure if this will help or not but my daughter still has not received anything in the USPS mail BUT on Monday night, she logged into her portal just to check (even though she already checked it 3 times earlier in the day lol) and it had updated her status to Accepted. She was able to complete the process to accept and make her deposit. Also, we signed up for the USPS Informed Delivery in November and it will tell you that you have mail that they do not have pictures of and how many pieces. Based on our experiences these past few weeks, that may be the ā€œbig envelopeā€ because none of the 3 other colleges she was accepted to showed up on our Informed Delivery list because they were all 8x10 envelopes. But, at least if it says you have other mail, thereā€™s hope! My advice, check your portal at least twice daily because hers did not update until sometime after office hours were over. And, apparently, the rule of the portal updating the week after you are accepted might not be accurate bc her letter ā€œwas mailed on the 12thā€ according to Admissions but her portal updated on the evening of the 17th without us receiving any notification via USPS. Iā€™ve seen others getting their acceptances yesterday so donā€™t lose hope! Spurs Up!

@pama3115 I sure hope you are right. You know it would make more sense if they worded it that way. It seems more ā€œhonest.ā€

What type of letter is a decline? Small legal size i presume?

@tc1207 are you logging into the application process? Like where it shows the SAT scores?

Try to log in here with VIP ID. I tried and it tells me I am not currently a registered Freshman. Boy do I hope that changes. https://cas.auth.sc.edu/cas//login?service=https%3A%2F%2Fmy.sc.edu%2Fnewstudent%2Fj_spring_cas_security_check

anyone else able to see their checklist??

I still see my checklist too

Exactly what I see
