Admission Dilemma Advice Needed!

Hello
I recently received my sat subject test scores and I was not too satisfied. I got a 740 in Math 2 and a 650 in Physics. Looking at the percentiles these scores are pretty low. I am pretty sure I need to retake them. I am applying to NYU, Umass-Amherst, St. John's, Syracuse...and a few others. I am going to major in Sports Management.

This is the dilemma. I wanted to apply early to NYU (ED), which is my top choice, along with Umass-Amherst (EA). The deadlines are Nov. 1, but NYU requires everything to be completed by that date, while Umass-Amherst allows for students to turn in everything (except the application) by Dec. 1.

Should I retake both subject tests at all, because I am majoring in Sports Management, not Engineering...or should I retake them. I cannot retake them in October because I am retaking my SAT in October. So basically I have narrowed it down to this. Retake them in Nov. and only apply early action to Umass-Amherst (because they will be able to see my new scores). I will then just apply regular decision to NYU (so they will also be able to see my new scores) and the other schools. Is this a good idea? Would applying regular decision at NYU (if I don't get into Umass-Amherst) hurt my chances, or is early decision with these subject test scores okay? I am really stuck here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

UMass-Amherst does not require SAT II tests at all, so they should not factor into your decision about when to apply to UMass. Nor does St. John's (New York). However, be aware that St. John's is rolling admissions, with housing also awarded on a rolling basis. You should get St. John's application in as early as you can. (Syracuse also doesn't require SAT IIs.)

Only NYU requires the SAT IIs for admission. NYU's ED program is binding, however, and NYU is notorious for giving poor financial aid. If financial aid is an issue, do not apply ED.
