i've been told that many latin stuents are able to get to top notch university because of being from latin american. According to the statistics at collegeboeard.com it is more impressive to have a 2050 being as latin student than a 2400 for an asian.. i'm latin it's sad though hah. DO you think that with a socre of 2080 i am fit for any Ivy? Math780 Cr 620 W 680

Certain schools do want more diversity. However, are you applying as an International student? (i.e. not US citizen or permanent resident)? If so, then your tips into admissions are decreased.

Being an international student is going to be a huuuuge disadvantage. Also, you don't count as a minority if you're from another country. Obviously you're not a minority in your country. So then your race doesn't count.

No, they're only a minority if they're form the USA. International students don't count has minorities no matter what race they are. See, my parents are from El Salvador and Guatemala, but I was born in the USA. Thus, I am a hispanic minority. If I had been born in El Salvador, then no, I wouldn't be a minority because I'd be an international student. Hispanics aren't a minority in El Salvador, now are they? And even if you were like...an asian living in El Salvador, you still wouldn't be a minority because interntional students don't get that hook.

^^I disagree. A white international student from say Germany or Finland will not be viewed the same in admissions as a black international student from say Nigeria or Haiti. They bring rather different perspectives and provide different degrees of diversity to the campus. IMO, race still matters in international admissions.
