admission/gpa question..

i would absolutely LOVE to go to duke.. ive had my heart set on it for a while.. for the past two summers i have attended a DukeTIP summer studies program ( first on integrative med and this past summer on genetics) well anyway.. i was just wondering if i would have a chance? more specifically with the grades?

ive been getting pretty great grades so far. straight As up to this year (Jr year is kickin my butt) ive held a 4.0 gpa..

but this year im expecting a low B maayyybe a C on an honors math class and a B of high B on AP us history. (the rest should be A of high As, including 2 more AP classes)i was wondering if this would affect my chances of admissions by a lot?

what do you think? are most students accepted straight As across the board? i know there are more factors.. i am very involved in the school and commuity service and my SAT scores are average...

No, you certainly don't need straight A's. I had 3 B's throughout hs (1 freshman year, 1 sophomore year, 1 senior year), and I'm sure many other admits have had at least as many. :)

I had lots of Bs...even a few final Bs. I actually even got a C for a semester grade once, but no one sees that:)

I had a B and five B+'s as final grades from freshman-senior year. The B and two B+'s came freshman year, two B+'s were sophomore year, and the last was in an AP junior year.

It might be worth noting that my school has a harsh grading scale though. 90-93 is a B+.
