Hi everyone, I have a little question here. I hope it hasn't been asked before, but in case it is, terribly sorry for the double post.

Anyway, as an international applicant, I was wondering about the admission letters and how long they take to arrive in my country. I'm from Malaysia, and if I'm not wrong, it takes around 2 to 3 weeks for any mail to arrive from US.

So my question is this - if the letters are sent on April 1 (it's probably safe to assume the earliest that they will arrive in Malaysia is on the third week of April), and the deadline to give them my reply is May 1, will I be able to send in my reply and whatnot in time?

Are the colleges aware of this and do they give any allowances for extra time to international students?

Thanks very much in advance. And best of luck to all regular applicants.

have u received any letters from your colleges yet confirming that the college has received ur application? i got them from several colleges and according to their postmark date it took roughly 1.5 weeks to reach me in bangladesh. besides, i know canadian most universities usually send the admission letters to international students by courier service..which takes usually 2-3 days max. but no idea abt the US ones...and a lot of the universities will notify ur admission by e-mail and online accounts...yep good luck to you too!!!!

yup, the vast majority of the colleges will inform their international applicants through ways faster than snail-mails nowadays. if you do get admitted, you'll probably get an email + admitted package via courier mail that should reach u in 2-3 days. if you get waitlisted or rejected, you'll probably get an email (if the college doesn't have an online portal for you to check ur decision) + a formal letter via snail mail. so don't worry. i'm from singapore, so my situation shouldn't differ too much from yours.

A lot of schools establish online accounts where you can check your admission decision. You would get a user name and password via email or snail mail.

I'm just a little worried because I haven't even received my username and password from certain colleges, and it's been close to a month already.

Hey gytoh..The colleges usually mail the normal mails like student account, password etc by snail mail. Only acceptance letter and other important documents after that will be sent by courier. Also, some schools wouldnt sent out their username and password this early, so don't worry...
