Admission Predictions!!!!!!

Exeter - 11.23451421235589144... (bad SSAT's)
St. Paul's - 3.14159256 (bombed interview)
Andover - 91.1% (Really good essay)
Hotchkiss - 159.45 %

OMG I"M SOOOOOO NERVOUS

these ARE some mighty high predictions

keep in mind regardless of how good your grades/essays/flawless competition awards stand, there's no way to know you'll get in (unless you're a diplomat's daughter... we've had one of those on cc didn't we :D )

Ohhh, for fun? Well:

When I'm feeling down on myself:
E: -11.2%
LC: -1.43%
CSW: 2.9%

When I'm feeling honest:
E: 19%
L: 24%
CSW: 43%

When I had a good day:
E: 19%
L: 24 %
CSW: 43%

Lol... I really don't know. There were some mix-ups with one of my teacher's recommendations (gave it to said teacher early november... was sent out a week after deadlines :[, oh well. He/She's an amazing teacher) and other stuff. We'll see!

Wait, is that true? If your a diplomat's child, do you almost automatically get accepted?

"keep in mind regardless of how good your grades/essays/flawless competition awards stand, there's no way to know you'll get in"

Well the point of this thread is simply to say what chances you think you have to get in. If you think your definitely gunna get in you think that.

I am pretty honest. I have no chance at HADES. I'll admit it...

How can you say that when you just posted you have all A+s for grades?

Grades have little significance. My A+ were achieved through LOTS AND LOTS of effort, but there is also the element of grade inflation at my school. 20% of students get straight A's. I also did not do too well on the SSAT. An 87% is simply not good enough for HADES unless you bring a hook of some kind.

I guess I'm still an old fashioned mom who would be thrilled with straight A+s. :)
I still think you have a better chance than you thing benev!

benev...you need to look at the threads from last year. They turn away plenty with 99%. They are looking for an intelligent, but also a unique, and complete, individual! You are more than your numbers!!!

Thanks Guys!!

"They turn away plenty with 99%."

Really? But I think I only saw a few self-claimed "99ers" this year. How many of you got 99% to start with?

Our Exeter interviewer told us they had 185 people apply with perfect ssats and only accepted only 3 of them. Something like that... it was a few months ago so my numbers may not be exactly right but it was a tiny number.

(My S had 95% overall and he was explaining why it was NOT worth retaking it )

Hotchkiss - 35% i have no idea :( my top choice!!!
SPS - 40%
Groton - 60% my interviewer really liked me
Exeter - 10% this is at the bottom of my list and if i get in (doubtful!!!) then i won't go
Choate - 70%

PA-C, when I hear statistics like that, it sort of worries me. Wouldn't that mean those with a 99% on the SSAT actually have a lower chance of admission? I would find it unfair if my score put me at a disadvantage, that I would have a better chance of acceptance had I scored something lower instead. It's not as if I can choose what number I want!

No it doesn't mean that. Just means that the majority of 99% are usually th all Aers that have no passion and can't offer anything to the school. Not ALL...just some.

I think the whole thing is essentially that a good score doesn't necessarily make you a good candidate. Sure, the kid has great statistics, but do they have any true passions? Do they have true enthusiasm? What will they really bring to that school? That sort of thing.

@ pomegranate: why wouldn't you go to exeter?? i'm planning to apply next year (crapshot, ik) so i'm curious.. thanks!

I was more excited about it before I visited, but when I was there, it felt too big. That's just me! I cannot picture myself there, but the app was easy and my parents think the FA there might be a little more generous.

Honestly, it is an easy test, to the applicants to HEADS schools anyway. We are talking about the smartest kids here. Does 95% and 99% make that much of a difference in telling one's intelligence? Absolutely not, but to think to score a 99% you have to be studying all day and make yourself a dull & no passion persion is absurd. How hard is it to get a 99%? You don't have to get all answers right - with verbal, 3 or 4 answers wrong you still get perfect score; and the math is almost TOO easy. And even with less than 99% in each section you may still get an overall 99%. I am surprised that there are not more people getting 99%.
