Would there be any difference or advantage towards an American living abroad for the majority or his or her life and one that resides in the USA?

imo, it's a cool experience, and makes you a unique individual. JHU has a stellar IR program...

Did you incorporate how the international community has defined you in your essay? Or some particular international community? Cuz, that'd be cool.

But, I'm in the same position as you and not an admissions officer.

yeah, indirectly i included my cultural background as well as what i would be seen as by most Americans returning after 14 years of my life lol.
ive got all the criterion for a well rounded student applying to JHU but one, which is the SAT score. The english programs here "suck" so thats my downloop towards the applications and the admissions by them.

that really blows... but hopefully the admissions people will see your disadvantage there... how'd you do on math?

Chances for admission are not going to be any different, but clearly there will be a difference to the way your application is reviewed because your schooling and background are different. Since your are schooled internationally, your application will be reviewed by our International Admissions staff.

I heard that international pool is way more competative then US pool. Eventhough my son is an US citizen living outside US, is he going to be compared to the international pool first and then if he makes it be compared to the US pool?
thank you

Applying as international student to Hopkins is not more competitive than applying as a domestic student. This is true for US citizens studying abroad as well as international students.

Where the process does become much more competitive is for an international student (non-US citizen) applying for admission and applying for financial assistance at the same time. The process becomes need-aware and is much more competitive because we only offer limited financial assistance to international students.

thank you so much for your comment.

Thanks AdmissionsDaniel.

Well, I got a 720 M, 510 CR, and 640 W ( 1870 ) on the October test. I took them again in November and hopefully i'll get a 2000. I mean, besides that fact, I think I'm a well-rounded student. Who knows!!
