Admission question

my rank is killing me!!
not literally, just sorta kinda really worried about it

im something like 120/480, which makes me ~25%
on the penn site it has the ranks of people and what percentage of ppl got accepted:
Valedictorian 46%
Salutatorian 35%
Other Top Five Percent 23%
Second Five Percent 9%
Total Top Decile 25%
Second Decile 7%
Second Quintile 4%
Third Quintile 1%

i’m second quintile i think, so 4% chance of getting in??! except my GPA is 3.8 uw and 4.4 w which i dont think is THAT horrible. my school has around 30 valedictorians with 4.0s and people dont even know what salutatorians are because thered be like 30 of them too. also, our ranks are unweighted so a lot of people who never took honors or APs still have a higher rank than me.

anyway, enough babbling. anyone know if my rank will hurt me? and if so, how badly? Thanks

the rank doesn't hurty you as long as you make sure your GC explains the competitive high school you attend. Don't use your precious personal essay words to explain this. The Admissions Committee compares you to your high school. And it's only fair that they understand that your high school is pretty damn competitive. Thats really crazy if what you say is true.
