Just got my letter. I’m officially in and was accepted for astronomy!!!
Does anyone know when Boulder releases merit aid information?
I finally talked to someone in admissions. They told me the following:
- If you didn’t get an acceptance today that doesn’t mean you won’t get in.
- They will be having periodic releases between now and Feb 1st, but they would not give me a schedule.
- The words they used were “frequent releases” between now and Feb 1st.
- I asked if the decisions today were only for Arts and Sciences (since that is what I noticed on here) but they would not answer that.
So they launch a full on social media check your portal campaign and they aren’t releasing all the results??? Very poor to be honest.
@uknewnenglanddad I agree. You can’t tell me that they don’t know yet who they are admitting. My application was sent in back in early October. If you are going to release, then release all of them. I don’t know what they have to gain by waiting. I have a friend at school today that said he is sick of waiting and decided to confirm somewhere else. And he applied back in September.
Yep @hiker223 my son was accepted at Purdue. They said we will release at 5 Eastern on Monday and they did. No silly games like this. Will factor into his final decision…
Yep @hiker223 and @uknewenglanddad, I called admissions and when I was also told we may be waiting until 2/1, I diplomatically tried to tell them that the very encouraging invitation to check your status is pretty misleading and frustrating. My son received an email last week telling him he is a finalist for the Leeds Scholars Program and has set up an interview–so clearly his application has been reviewed and the business school thinks enough of him to consider him a finalist. I wonder if they think the waiting will make CU more desirable. It’s having the opposite effect at our house.
@brutusmom Exactly…
In state engineering applicant have not heard back yet, pray for me
Hey guys congrats on your acceptances! would some of you admits mind letting me know what date you sent your app?
Application submitted 9/29, in state, arts & sciences, psychology
i sent mine in 10/22
Do we think the next wave is coming tomorrow or are we waiting another week? TBH I just want to know.
@cubhopeful @angelalank oh okay you guys submitted well before me, makes me feel a little better, thank you!
I would probably say within the next few days for sure
I applied on November 15 and submitted not even a minute before the deadline and was accepted today.
My son is still awaiting a response from CU. We are in-state (3.92 U/W, 4.25 W, 1360 SAT, All State Athletic Letter and Academic Letter for 3 years). While initially CU was his first choice he has actually has been leaning more toward CSU who accepted him into their Engineering School in only 6 days after he applied. He applied to CU on 10/31 and is just tired of waiting and ready to make a decision to attend CSU or Arizona. Living in Colorado I have learned that the State Legislature and CU have raised the OOS acceptance limit to 55% which is a clear indication that they are more interested in revenue generation than serving the Taxpayers of Colorado which primarily fund the institution like most state universities. In addition, CU is a Very Liberal University in comparison to other colleges and that is somewhat of a deterrent for him since he is a conservative. Meanwhile, like many of you, we will continue to wait and see but he may very well decline the acceptance and attend either CSU or Arizona.
My daughter also got into Arizona and CSU engineering, and yes it did not take long for her to hear back. We live in the mountains outside Boulder, and I know she’d like to stay close to home, but she is tired of waiting. It’s dismaying to hear that OOS students will have an edge. I believe the same thing was happening in California until people started to object, and the acceptance percentages changed. I’m going to call my representatives and let her know this isn’t ok. We support these schools with our taxes in hopes that our children will have a somewhat more affordable option, and we want students who are more likely to stay in Colorado and contribute after college.
My D was also accepted to CSU and Arizona, and is waiting for word from CU. She has good scholarship opportunities at both U of A and CSU but is unlikely to get any merit from CU. It would still be good to know though, as many of her friends received acceptances yesterday.
We’re OOS from California, which (as noted above) has recently transitioned from pursuing OOS students for the OOS tuition to making it very difficult for them to attend. We’re applying to several UC’s also, and while less completion from OOS probably increases my D’s chance of acceptance, the money will need to come from somewhere so tuition will rise. Good luck to everyone!
For those who have been accepted- How did you know that there was an update to your CU Boulder portal? Did you get an email or did you just log in and happen to see that there was an update?
