Admission rescinded

Hello my application to UCSD was just rescinded because my transcripts did not have my senior year grades on it. I was very surprised by this fact because I sent in my transcripts on two separate occasions. When I ordered my transcripts on parchment.com, I put my grades on hold so that an official transcript should have been sent with my senior grades once my high school had put them in. However, an unofficial transcript without them was sent instead. I have just sent in an appeal and was wondering how likely it is for me to be admitted again.

We have no way to know how likely the school will reverse themselves. You’ll need to call the admissions office.

Talk to your HS Guidance Counselor…why didn’t the school directly send the transcripts?

I’d do these things now.

  1. I never used parchment.com but call them and get them to fax/email your final transcript as well if they have it.
  2. Call your HS. Whoever is there (even if it is the principal’s office). Get them to send a final transcript immediately. Get the HS to commit to when it will be sent.
  3. Call the college admission department, apologize, and let them know you sent it through parchment.com and are shocked that it never arrived. Let them know you will get them a final transcript ASAP. If you have your final report card offer to email/fax that to them so they have something until the transcript arrives. Follow up to be sure it arrives.

For submitting transcript on Parchment, you do need to be on top of everything. You need to check when you have the latest transcript uploaded to the site. And you need to check if it is current before sending. What may happen is the final transcript was actually uploaded a bit behind the original schedule. So a previous version was sent instead. Nevertheless, UCSD should have contacted you for missing document before the deadline. Many public high school may have the office closed during the Summer until mid August or later.
