We called admissions to check on Son's app materials since OneStart wasn't working. We just expected to get a status update. After they looked up his file, they said he had just been admitted the day before. Not the answer we were expecting, but we were very happy to hear it. It took almost three weeks to receive the big packet in the mail. If we hadn't called that day, we wouldn't have known for quite awhile. He never received an e-mail notification.

I called the admissions office, and they told me by phone I was admitted. Then I got a packet in the mail about 3 days later. Then I got an e-mail about simultaneously as I received my packet.

But I want to know why it took you guys only three weeks, but it's taking me nine. Indiana is stat based anyways. What could take so long?

Bad timing it sounds like you submitted during the peak.....so if you are not admit from folder and need review.....you are in a cluster which takes time.

Well, it's not like they had a hard time deciding on people who are in the top 10% of all applicants, especially when you are a school that admits 82% of their applicants, lol. And I submitted in August, they just didn't receive the transcript until 10/6, and then it took about 3 weeks.

Kinglin, my son met with his guidance counselor who sent in his paper application (he didn't opt to do online for Indiana), etc. about the same time you sent yours in, and we heard back in a little less than three weeks. If you're sure they aren't waiting for anything, it's possible they want to delay any decision and ask for your mid year grades to see how you're faring this year. The good news is that they haven't given you BAD news yet.

I've been talking to an admissions officer over the last few days, and from the way he's been talking, it seems as if I was rejected. Right now I'm just trying to find out if it was the GPA, that threw me out right away, and if my EC's were even looked into.

I am sorry to hear this.......ask if they will hold their decision and take into consideration your midterm grades. Ask for some consideration in that. As to your ECs......they don't really care.

I included my quarter grades, but I doubt it had any affect at all.

So he didn't tell you directly? He is avoiding it? I am not sure I understand. Are they making you wait for the snail mail bad news?? What is your other option?

When we called just to check on whether all of son's materials had arrived, they told us straight up that out son had been accepted. If they had good news, I'm sure they'd have shared it with you. However, since you made the effort to call, there's no reason that they shouldn't have been up front and give you their decision--good or bad. Shame on them for making you wait on the mail.

when i check my status online it just says "your application has been recieved and will be reviewed, please allow 3-6 weeks to hear from our office"

Does this ever change? I applied november 21st, so not quite the 6 weeks..how long should i expect to wait?
