Admission to Tulane

the main point of my questions is to figure out if admission to Tulane is just based on your ACT/SAT score.
i have a really strong GPA
good college essay
good teacher recommendation
25, i am taking the ACT again in june, however, I did really well on the english section

No university that is highly selective bases admission on only one or two criteria. They look at the whole package, which includes GPA, test scores, number of advanced courses you took in high school, EC’s, sports and/or leadership positions, recommendations, and the amount of interest you have shown in wanting to attend Tulane and why.

I respect FC’s wisdom on this sort of question, but I might put a slightly different twist on it.

I visited a lot of highly selective schools with my daughter a few ago, and I was really impressed with a presentation by an admissions counselor from one of the most selective schools in the country about how he read an application.

What he said was he looked at test scores first. If you are in the middle 50% that proved you belonged there and it really didn’t make that much difference where you were within the range. If you were in the top 25% it helped slightly. If you were in the bottom 25%, then the rest of the application had to stand out, and he had to see a reason to want to advocate for you.

So I agree with FC that you want to make sure that the rest of the application is as well prepared as possible to make yours stand out; but I also agree with you that taking the test again, perhaps trying a couple of practice exams and working through a prep book, to see if you can boost your scores a bit would add value. Also, you probably at least took a PSAT, but you might see whether you perform better on the SAT than the ACT…

Best of luck…
