Admission with second choice major

Hello

So I got an admission to cal poly pomona with my second choice major. ( Which was not really my choice of major, since during the application it was asking me to enter my second choice major I just wrote music).
Now I have an admission offer with that major.
Now should I expect to receive an admission offer for my first choice major or not ?

No, you have been admitted for your alternate 2nd choice major. If you want your first choice major, you will have go through the process of changing majors and depending upon what major you originally wanted, it can be difficult to change.

My original major is computer science.

CPP considers your alternate major if you do not qualify for your 1st choice major. Here is the information to change into CS if you decide to attend CPP. Since it is an impacted major, there is no guarantee that you will be able to switch majors even if you meet all the requirements:

  1. You need a 3.25 CPP and Overall GPA
  2. Attend Change of Major meeting.
  3. Completion of 1 year at CPP and can only apply for Fall Semester.

https://www.cpp.edu/~sci/advising-center/faq/change-of-major-adding-minor.shtml lists the requirements.

Thank you.
But does this also apply to the transfer student from community college ?

I would contact CPP and ask them directly what you need to do to change your major. Here is more information that I found for Upper Division vs Lower Division transfers which is the same link given in post #4.

You kinda stuck yourself with your alternate major choice. Did you apply elsewhere?

Yeah. I have UC Riverside so far.

But isn’t it strange that, I only took one music class and CPP gave me an admission!! On the other hand I have been taking so many CS and Math classes and which they did not care at all. This is more like they had a space in the music department, so they gave me an admission. !!

I agree - call CPP and ask what it takes to shift to CS. You may find it is hard or risky. (if so, something related like CIS may be an option). If you get the sense you will be stuck at CPP without access to a program that works for you, UCR is a very good school
