I wanted to know that if one applies for sports scholarship in a college during admission, is it necessary for him/her to pursue that very sport in college as well or that person can focus more on academics and other activities?
It depends on the eligibility requirements of the scholarship. Does it require you to continue the sport in college?
Okay! Thanks
AFAIK if you are taking a sports scholarship you must play the sport. The 5 major D1 conferences are now talking about 4 year guaranteed scholarships for recruited athletes but that’s in case of medical issues preventing students from continuing to play. Nothing says you also can’t focus on academics.
I thought sports scholarships were given to those who were going to play that sport while in college, but you’d have to check with individual schools.
D1 and D2: your scholarship depends on your playing.
D3: your scholarship depends on your academics. Your sport only helps you get in.
